Hello again

I hope you all had an amazing Christmas and ate too much food and chocolate. I know it's true for me, the Christmas ham will probably last all of January but not the chocolate with the way I'm going through it all.

Today is the last day of 2014. 2015 is a new beginning and it feels exciting have a fresh slate and to see what comes of it.  I'm particularly excited about my family's trip to the Gold Coast in March, my first overseas trip.

2014 was ok, I completed my degree (still can't believe I've finished) and I saw some amazing concerts; Justin Timberlake, Lorde and Katy Perry who was for sure the highlight out of all of them.  It was ok as everything is still basically the same, I'm sat in the same position as I was last year.

In 2015 I want to be less scared of opportunities and just do what makes me happy rather than what I'm expected to do if that makes any sense.  I'm very shy, socially awkward and I overthink everything which is not a great combo.  In 2015 I want to stress less and to just do things rather than overthink to the point were I don't do the things I want to do, that doesn't sound hard at all :/

Anyway I hope you all have a great New Years wherever you are in the world and are ready to embrace the new opportunities and experiences 2015 has for you.

Katy Perry
Literally just today I managed to get some tickets to Katy Perry that aren't that bad that I know of. Oh well, I'm going!!! I saw her when she last came to NZ way back in 2011, she was amazing and I am super excited for tomorrow night! :D

A photo for you all because she's such a babe <3

Mirror
Last week I went a bit crazy on 1 Day, it's a website that has three different deals on anything and they last for 24 hrs. I bought three things, one was a Christmas pressie and the other two were for me oops. When I saw this mirror I knew I wanted it, I don't really have a good mirror on a stand and felt it was a necessity.

It is huge! It spins around and one of the mirror is magnified which is something to be weary of.

Gym Ball
I got this in the same sale as the mirror. I've always wanted one of these balls so when I saw it I went for it.

It's so fun and squishy! So much fun that my sister keeps taking it and using it.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!

Hey

It's hard to believe but Christmas is next week! Ahhhh nooooo. I have not finished my Christmas shopping, it's so hard to buy for other people especially boys, I have no idea what to get my brother a part from chocolate.  Shopping's also dangerous as I'll just find stuff I want and buy it, oops. So here's my Christmas list for this year.

TL - BR: MAC Ruby Woo, Kikki K 2015 Diary, Essie Nail Polish, Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Perfume.

So this is all I could really think of, throughout the year I always have a number of things I want but when it comes to making a list for Christmas I find it hard.  I have a book that is filled with all the beauty items I want but I won't go into it, it's extensive.  My Dad isn't too happy nail polish is on my list, he thinks I have a lot but really I don't, most of them are shatters anyway.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I would love to know what is on your Christmas Wish List.

Mirrou Elephant Dress
I completely forgot to include this in the post on Tuesday oops. But that just means I can include it in here and it is one of my favourite dresses I have even though it's a mission to try to get it on.

So yeah, the top and bottom part look like separate sections but I love the effect. The design is cool, it has elephants as well as some other cool designs which I find hard to describe.  The straps at the back cross over and the back is open. This feature makes it impossible for me to put it on, I can't figure out where they're suppose to go, it took me at least 20 minutes to put it on once.

New Shoes
Yesterday I finally got to see Mockingjay, it was amazing, and saw it in the deluxe cinema with the comfy seats YUS.  Anyway afterwards we went shopping I we stumbled into Number One Shoes and I got myself a little pressie.

They're nothing fancy, just black slip on shoes which I can just wear anywhere because sometimes I'm lazy.

Vlogmas
Throughout December till Christmas numerous YouTube stars have been vlogging everyday which gives me quite a lot of viewing material to get through but I love them.  My favourites are Lily Pebbles, Tanya Burr, Zoella, Shaaanxo and Shop Style Conquer.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and hope you all have a great weekend!

Hey

How's it going? How was your weekend? My weekend was nice, had a lazy Saturday and on Sunday I went to my first ever bloggers brunch. I was super nervous but everyone was lovely (I still kept quite though, takes a while for me to come out of my shell when meeting new people) and the food was yum.

Today's post is a clothing haul which I don't think I've done in a while. A couple of weeks ago my family and I (minus my brother) went to Sylvia Park for some reason. I can't really remember which is the norm for me lately, my memory is starting to fail me.  Anyway I discovered Mirrou which I didn't know was at Sylvia so I had to go in and found some great pieces.

Left: Just a nice white singlet which I can just wear with anything.

Right: I saw a girl wearing this shirt earlier in the day and I really liked it but had no idea where it was from. When I saw it in Mirrou I knew it was mine.  The sleeves and around the collar in the front are mesh which makes it more interesting than a plain black shirt.  My sister actually got the same shirt which was surprising as we don't usually have the same taste in clothes.

Left: This shirt was right beside the black one above and I loved it as well. Just a classic black and white shirt but what sealed it for me was the typography.  Whenever I see something in French or just the word Paris I have to have it.

Right: This was the first thing I spotted in the store. It's a nice cardigan thing which I can just throw on when it's a bit chilly. It's long, flowy and is also very soft which is a must. It came in black as well but went for this one as I'm trying to avoid the safety net that is black.

My Mum actually pointed this out to me and when I saw it I knew I wanted it. I think it's pretty obvious why, it's gorgeous and is another addition to my key ring.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! From now on I might only post twice a week leading up to Christmas, maybe, we'll see how it goes :p

Auckland Art Gallery
Yesterday my friend and I paid a visit to the gallery as we both wanted to see the Light Show which is on at the moment.  It is AMAZING. I've always been fascinated with light and love how movement, water and illusion was incorporated to make the works come alive.

We also wandered around the rest of the gallery as we hadn't been in a while, we had a play with the lego's, my creations ended up falling over and breaking :( We also had a fun time in what I think is more of the children's area buut it was the best.

Here's me playing with thee lights

New Dogs
Last Sunday my family ended up with two new dogs. It's been exciting having something new around the house but I don't think the cat will agree.

The Black Lab is Molly and the fluffy one (not sure what breed) is Buddy.  Buddy is more chill while Molly is more adventurous, she is always jumping over the fence so she has to get tied up.

Christmas Lights
Christmas is my favourite time of year, I just love the whole atmosphere and I especially love Christmas lights on houses. My Dad has put lights up on a tree and the fence at home, he really wants some icicle lights and an inflatable Santa, I think I likes Christmas as much as I do.

I love houses that go all out for Christmas such as the ones we saw last night at Karaka. There are two houses which are lit up. The owners in one of the houses have a sleigh and they do rides for children. The other one is amazing, the lights are programmed to light up with music and there is a screen that has images on it relating to the song.

This is a video I took of it last year

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend. On Sunday is the Christmas Brunch Club. I'm both excited and nervous to meet everybody so hopefully I won't be as socially awkward as I usually am.

Hey

I'm trying to make art posts more regular on the blog as 'arte' is part of the blog's name.  Today's post is on another art work I studied for my exam and is of the similar nature as the Venus of Urbino and was done by the same artist.

Like the Venus of Urbino this work relates to the event of marriage with the two women representing the two types of love; Profane on the left in her traditional wedding gown and Sacred on the right which is more classical and represents sexuality. The painting represents both earthly and heavenly love.

The painting was commissioned for the Vice Chancellor of the Venetian Republic, his Coat of Arms are on the sarcophagus. The Coat of Arms of his wife are on the silver bowl.

The two figures; the bride and the Venus, are thought to represent the same women which represented the ideal women and would have been a model for the bride. The bride looks out, signalling martial consent. Behind the bride an angel is encouraging water from a spout and combined with an image of a Stallion on the sarcophagus represents male sexuality and the importance of child bearing.

Hope you all enjoyed this post!

Hey

When I got my allowance (how often do I start off like this?) I made a list of all the things I wanted to buy. Getting my hands onto some new makeup brushes from XO Beauty was on top of the list.

XO Beauty is Shaaanxo's brand and sells makeup brushes, eyelashes and you can also buy hair ties and jewellery.  They're really good quality, not that expensive and since it's based in New Zealand I don't have to wait as long to have them.

I wanted everything of course but I controlled myself. Because of this I struggle choosing what to get, trying to figure out what was more important.

I knew I wanted to get another Flat Top Face brush, I use this to put on foundation (as taught by Shaaanxo, all I know about makeup application is thanks to her). I got another one so I don't have to worry when ones drying out from being cleaned.

I also got a Lip Brush and Tapered Crease brush because they seemed like very important tools to have. I don't like being caught out in situations so I always make sure I'm prepared.  I haven't ventured into eye shadows yet but I have purchased my first Naked Palette, Naked Basics, in celebration for getting my degree. I know that the Tapered Crease is an important brush to have for eye shadow so I got it in preparation.

I also picked myself up some hair ties as I pretty much have only one and because they're so gorgeous.  There are three different styles to choose from, I went with the Original xo as I just love the simple designs and colours.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I was tempted to get some eye lashes but I don't think I'm at that stage yet, maybe next time.

Passing my courses
Ever since I finished my last exam I've been checking every so often to see if my grades are up.  Yesterday they were and I passed everything which means I now have my BA! It's weird to think that it's over, I still feel like I need to pick my classes for next year and that the end is a long way off. I've applied to do honours (I have no idea why) so yeah, I had nothing else to do and the classes sounded exciting.

Auckland Christmas Bloggers Brunch
So every month there is a bloggers brunch were bloggers have brunch obviously and just meet and talk about blogs and other stuff I guess, I've never been to one before.  For December there is a special Christmas brunch and I bit the bullet and bought a ticket! I'm nervous and excited at the same time. I've never met anybody in person, just through twitter, and I'm not the best in social situations so hopefully I won't be too terrified to talk to anyone.

1989 Polaroids
I kind of went a bit overboard when this album came out. I first got it on iTunes, listened to it and got obsessed with it. My obsession then went up a notch when I went out and bought the physical deluxe copy of the album.

These beauties are pretty much the only reason I got it.  They're just so cool. There is 13 in each packet and every album has a different set which is bad for me as I want all of them but can't justify buying heaps of albums *sigh*. I'm not sure what to do with them, I've seen people put them on their walls so maybe I'll do that so they're better appreciated. I now really want a polaroid camera so I can have a wall covered with photos.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!

Hey

Pretty much the first splurge I did when I got my allowance was buying some books that I've wanted for a while off Book Depository.  They were much cheaper and it has free shipping which for me is very appealing.  I've pretty much read and re-read every book that I have so I definitely needed something new to occupy my time with.

It - Alexa Chung
#Girlboss - Sophia Amorusa
Not That Kind of Girl - Lena Dunham

I've mostly heard about these books from other bloggers who have loved them so I wanted to get myself some copies. I haven't read any of them yet but am excited.

Gone Girl - Gillian Flynn

There's been major buzz about the movie adaptation so I decided to get the book because everyone says it great.  I'm not even 1/3 through but it's very compelling and slightly uneasy. The story swaps between Amy's diary entries and Nick's perspective which give different views of their life together.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! If there is any other books out there that you love I would like to hear about them, I'm always on the hunt for a good read :D

Hey

Sorry there wasn't a post on Friday, I didn't feel like blogging so decided to take a day off.  Today's post is a another edition of my online shopping spree I did a few weeks ago.  For some reason I decided to visit Once'it and when I saw the Revlon sale I knew I would be buying something.

When I first looked through I thought I was going to get a lipstick but decided I had too many and went for a couple of lip glosses instead.

I got two Super Lustrous Lip Glosses; the one on the left is in Pearl Plum and the one on the right is Pink Pursuit.  They're not as pigmented as the Tanya Burr glosses, they give a light colour to the lips which make them perfect to go over a lipstick.  They're perfect to just chuck on to give your lips some colour and gloss.

I also saw a sale on hair ties/band things which I thought were really cute. They came in a number of colours but I went with the striking black with a colourful floral pattern.  I'm still figuring out how to wear it but will be a good summer accessory.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! xxx

Hey

A couple of weeks ago during my little online shopping spree in which I bought stuff off a couple of sites I paid a visit to Feel Unique and got some bits and bobs to try out.

Zoella Beauty Makeup bag/Pencil case
I like a lot of others were excited about the launch of Zoella Beauty and as soon as I got my allowance I knew I wanted to buy one of the cases.  As you can see I got the pink Guinea Pig one, it's so cute and I just love pink and the white polka dots.  It's pretty big, big enough for my brushes and other stuff so I'm really happy with it.

Tanya Burr Lip gloss in Afternoon Tea
Yet another famous beauty YouTuber's line which I had to get my hands on.  I had a hard time picking a colour, they were all so pretty, so ended up with this one.  The colour's very lovely, a soft shade of pink and it smells like lollies! YUM! It's very pigmented compared to other lip glosses I've had so you can just wear it on its own.

Rimmel Kate Moss 107
I've been wanting this lipstick for the longest time. I was going to buy it when I went to Farmers but there was none left, so I resorted to buying online.  The colour is amazing, a rich dark red which I am obsessed with, I'm pretty sure I want the colour in every brand of lipstick or lip gloss HELP.  My life now feels somewhat complete now that I have it.

Feel Unique Spree

Wednesday, 19 November 2014

Hey

It's been a long while since I've done art post on the blog and thought it was overdue.  My last exam was Art History which was last Thursday.  One of the paintings I wrote about in the exam was the Venus of Urbino which was painted by the famous Venetian Titian.  Mythology paintings are my favourite subject of painting, I just have a fascination with the ancient Greek and Roman deities, hence why Ancient History was my minor.

In the Renaissance mythology paintings were only appropriate for domestic interiors, namely bedrooms.  Figures such as the Venus were models of eroticism, fidelity and motherhood for the new brides.  It was also believed that looking at beautiful figures during conception would make the child beautiful as well.

This painting, especially the pose, was a tribute to the artist Giorgione who painted the Sleeping Venus which Titian completed after he died.  Both the Venus's have the 'pudica' pose which was derived from ancient classical sculpture.  Unlike Sleeping Venus this Venus is in a interior space, paralleling the setting of the painting. In the background two maids are getting her elaborate clothes from cassone which were common gifts in relation to weddings in the Renaissance.

The dog at her feet represents marital fidelity, since it is sleeping it is suggested that it is the husband who is gazing at her which is appropriate through marriage.  She also holds roses which is a symbol of Venus.  The aim of the painting was to instruct the bride to be the perfect Renaissance women, being erotic, fertile and loyal to her husband.  This made them popular gifts for weddings as having children was seen as the most important thing in Renaissance society.

New Skirts
Last Wednesday, Guy Fawkes night, my parents and I made a dash to The Warehouse because my sister wanted some fireworks. Anyway while they were looking at what was left I of course wandered over to the clothes and found these babies.

Lately I've been getting into skirts and now own a lot more than I did a couple of months ago.  They're just plain skater style skirts which I love and the best thing about them is that they were $10 each! So of course I got one in black and the other grey and I love them.

My Suitcase
I've mentioned before there is family trip planned to the Gold Coast which I am excited about.  Last month or so my Mum has started buying suitcases and one of them was for me!

I just get so excited when I look at it. It's blue, it has wheels and sometimes I just like to walk around with it which is not weird at all.

And of course the best thing about going overseas is duty free so I've been trawling Aelia Duty Free** and making an extensive wish list. I won't lie I've mainly been looking at the makeup and fragrance section with a little peep at the confectionary.  For a while now I've had my eye on Marc Jacob's fragrances especially the new Daisy Dream, it's on the top of my list.

Travelling is something I've always wanted to do. Europe, especially France and Italy are my two dream destinations so sometimes I like to look at travel websites such as Webjet.co.nz**  to see how much I would have to save. This then makes me sad and that I really need to get a job *sigh*

End of Exams
Yesterday was my last exam for the semester and hopefully forever! It feels good but weird not having to study, I've been at uni for the past four years and it doesn't quite seem real that if I pass everything I will have a degree. I eventually will have to think about next year, I went to a info session about post grad for Art History which for some reason made me really excited as before I was just over it. Hmm still not quite sure what to do.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!

Hey

This post is a continuation from the one on Monday as I bought these in the same trip.  These however were things I've owned and really loved and needed to replenish as I was starting to run out.

Elizabeth Arden Makeup Remover
I've already written about my love for it here so I won't go on about it.  It's the first makeup remover I've used and will probably be the only as it is so good. My makeup comes off so easily and it is able to take off mascara and lipstick so it's the only thing I'll ever need.  My face also feels so smooth afterwards, it's amazing.

Revlon Colourstay
Once again please refer to another post where I express my undying devotion to it here. It's the best foundation I've used, though in saying that I've only used two and I'm pretty sure the other one was too dark for me.  Anyway it gives me a good coverage, I use the oily/combination one which help disguises my oil ridden skin.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
To finish things off I like to use this.  Once again I got this after watching Shaaanxo say that it was amazing, who needs another reason.  It works great for me, keeps my makeup good throughout the day. I use the translucent one but I really want to try out the others to see how they are.  The one I'm currently using has hit pan so I needed to get a replacement urgently.

Hope you all enjoyed this post!

Hey

It's the start of another week and once again I am still studying, it's like a never ending cycle. But fortunately my last exam, hopefully forever, is on Thursday so I'll be free! That basically means I'll be trying to find a job and other things to occupy my time.

A couple of weeks ago Farmers were having their sales which they have every Thursday and of course I couldn't resist.  What really drew me in was the 25% off Revlon Foundation as mine was running low and needed more. I of course got a few more things so it wouldn't feel lonely.

No Issue Jumper & Whistle Skirt

When I saw these particularly, the jumper I knew they had to be mine. The jumper isn't something I would usually go for but I couldn't resist the pink even if it is neon. It's nice and lightweight, the sleeves are in a knitted style so will be nice to wear on a cool night.  The skirt is a nice black skater style business type skirt if that's how you want to describe it and is very versatile.

Maybelline Colour Sensational, 625 Are You Red-dy
You guys know that I have a problem when it comes to red lipsticks, I literally want all the shades there are. I probably shouldn't have bought this but oh well it's mine now.  This one is more of an actual red, not orangey or pinky, just a classic red. I justify the purchase as I don't have one of those, I'm obsessed with the whole pin-up look and this would be the perfect red for it.

Chi Chi Lip Liner in Fly Girl
I've always wanted a Chi Chi lip liner after watching Shaaanxo rave about them constantly.  I couldn't decide between nude or red so I went in between with a fleshy pink.  It really does go on smoothly and keeps my lipstick in place. I definitely need to get more.

Sunglasses
While we were there my Mum wanted to have a look at the sunglasses, the rest of my family got some new pairs so I wanted to get some myself.  I ended up getting two pairs as I just couldn't choose.  They both have a similar cat-eye shape, one is black and the other has a tortoise shell design.  To me the black looks more glamorous and the other more casual but I'll just wear them around anywhere.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I got some other things from this shopping trip, they were repurchases and there will be a post on them on Wednesday.

Brush Egg
I bought this off complexions.co.nz and it arrived yesterday.  I heard quite a bit about it, it is suppose to help clean your makeup brushes. For me cleaning my brushes takes up a lot of time so I was interested in getting this to make it more easier.  You can get the egg in Mint or Pink, I obviously went for pink because I just don't enough things in pink. I'm excited to try it out.

Gaps between exams
Other than exams being completely done this is the next best thing.  This week has been very stressful and hectic.  I had an exam on Monday then one yesterday.  Unfortunately I was so stressed and anxious about the one on Monday that I kind of completely ignored studying for the other one. This meant after it was done I was cramming for the next two days, but I wasn't as stressed about this one. Maybe because the course was on Greek Tragedy and I am much better at remembering plots of stories/plays rather than names and dates.  Anyway my last one, Art History,is next Thursday so I've got some time to prepare.

Online Shopping
Lately I've been a little crazy with the shopping especially online.  So far I've bought stuff off of five different online websites and I've still got a list of other ones I want to shop.  I promised myself I'll only buy stuff after each exam to celebrate it being done. I had one yesterday which means today I shop! I really need to get some control.

Hey

Sorry there was no post yesterday, had my first exam and was kinda freaking out about it. The lecturers gave us no hints at all so I tried to study the entire coursework :/ Thankfully there were questions that I could answer and it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I always have this fear of going in and completely forgetting everything.

As I mentioned in Friday's post I went to Lorde on Saturday. She was amazing of course! She sounded great and the lighting was amazing even though they made my eyes hurt a bit.  There was even frozen yogurt which I could not resist in getting.  I ended up rocking the purple lip, I wore the Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Shameless which I did a post on here.

With that all out of the way the focus of this post is about a book. It's been a while since I've posted about books and I've been meaning to do a little review of this book which I have had for a couple of months.

Silver Shadows is the fifth book in the Bloodlines series which means there's only one to go then the series is done. :( I did a post on the series which you can read here.  If you haven't read the previous books there are spoiler alerts so with that warning read on if you please.

Like with the Fiery Heart the chapters swap between the perspectives of Sydney and Adrian which is nice as it gives two views of the series situation the characters are in.  Sydney was captured at the end of the Fiery Heart and is now being held in the Alchemists Re-education Centre being more or less tortured and brainwashed.  While there she tries to keep her head as well as to try and escape the centre with the help of her magic. We see her experience on the inside as well as Adrian's on the outside who tries to find her and kind of goes a bit unstable and has to get the help of Marcus who he is not a fan of.

I don't want to spoil the plot so I might leave it there. Some big things happen that were for me exciting and I can't wait to see how it all ends in the final book.

Hope you all enjoyed this post!

Popbasic Polka Dot Blouse
This finally arrived last week and is my most favourite piece of clothing ever.  I really like blouses, I think I need to get some more.  I just love how classic it looks, the black and the white polka dots. It would look great all dressed up with a skirt or dressed down with some jeans. Gotta love versatility.

There is a Popbasic link along the sidebar at the bottom and if you click on it you'll get $15 credit to go towards one of their amazing collections!

Taylor Swift - 1989
I very rarely buy a whole album, usually I just do songs at a time which I know that I like.  However after hearing Shake it off, Welcome to New York and Out of the Woods I took the leap and got the whole album. I was not disappointed.  The whole album is amazing! At the moment the ones I listen to the most is Style, Wildest Dreams and New Romantics.  I already have the album digitally but I really want to get the hard copy as it comes with a series of polaroid's... yeah I'm definitely going to get it.

Lorde
Tomorrow is Lorde's concert in Auckland and I'm pretty excited, not as much as my sister, but still excited.  This this is the first time I'm seeing her live, I know it's going to be good so I'm really looking forward to it.  I am thinking of rocking her signature dark purple lip but not sure yet.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend and Halloween if you're into that.

Hey

Last week while wandering aimlessly around the city I came across a Makeup Clearance store in the Downtown Westfield.  It was the first time I'd seen it there and needed to have a look.  I got the chance on Thursday which was a special day as my Student Allowance finally came so I was in the mood to spend.  So yeah I kinda went a bit crazy especially when it came to the lipsticks, I was good though in that I didn't even go near the O.P.I's.

From Left to Right:

Maybelline 985, Infra-Red
I nearly didn't buy this one. I already had the three lipsticks and the concealer but I just couldn't help myself.  I can't resist a gorgeous red, and I knew if I didn't get it I would regret it forever.  I basically bought it so I could emulate Taylor Swift.  The bullet looks very red but when applied it's more of an orangey red but is still a gorgeous colour.

Revlon Super Lustrous 485, Raspberry Freeze
As soon as I saw this colour I wanted to get it.  I already has a Super Lustrous lipstick which I have raved about numerous times on the blog such as here so I knew it was a good lipstick.  The name is also what got me, the same goes with nail polishes if it has a cool name I'm more likely to get it.  I just like the pairing of Raspberry and Freeze, I dunno I'm a bit of a word freak.  The colour is a demure purple I guess, all I know is that it is gorgeous.  It comes off a more pinkish purple but still purple if you get what I mean. I'll stop now.

Maybelline Colour Whisper 290, Strike a Rose
I've always wanted a light pink colour that was more like a gloss type thing and as soon as I swatched this I knew I had to have it.  As the name 'Colour Whisper' might suggest the colour is more like a tint/lip-gloss situation. I love it, it gives a nice pink gloss to my lips and my fear of having patchy lips is not needed as it's not that noticeable.

Rimmel Kate Moss 103
I was so excited when I saw they had these lipsticks. Unfortunately 107 was not there *sigh* but I did find this colour which caught my eye.  It's a pinky nude which I thought was gorgeous. I don't really have a nude so I got it of course, it will be nice to wear just on an everyday basis.

L.A. Girl Pro Conceal
As soon as I saw this I knew I had to get it.  I've heard Shannon from Shaaanxo rave about it and use in her video's so I knew I had to find some.  I got the lightest shade that was there, Natural, so hoped it would be ok.  So far I've used it once and it wasn't too dark, YUS! I've noticed it's more thicker and more yellow in colour compared to my Collection Cosmetics concealer but I really like it.  My Collection Cosmetics one is definitely more brighter so will maybe be better suited for the under eye area.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I'm struggling with studying at the moment, there is just so much to study and the lecturer's have given no hints to what the questions are going to cover *sigh* lets hope my memory has improved.

Hey

Hope you all had a great weekend and if you in New Zealand are still enjoying the long weekend YAY! This weekend has been a lazy one for me but some exciting things did happen. On Saturday I got a new laptop since my last one just gave up on life R.I.P. So this post is being written on my favourite new toy which is awesome.

For this weekend my Mum randomly decided that we were going to go to Waiheke, so yesterday we did.  The day wasn't really the best, it was overcast and not to mentioned windy as hell so I was freezing the entire time.  My brother decided not to take a jumper at all so had to buy one while we were there.

I hadn't been on a ferry since I was a child so I was a bit excited for the trip.  Aside for the occasional up and down motion the trip was basically similar to that of a train which I've taken almost everyday for the past four years so it kind of felt familiar but had better views.  Once we got there we went on a little tour and saw some amazing houses which I would love to one day have.  We didn't stay there long, we looked at all the little shops in it's only little town and pretty much all the time was spent having lunch which was so good.

And of course I took some photo's of the view

Aside for the freezing wind it was a nice day out.  Hopefully there will be another longer visit so I can explore the rest of the island.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! I've got to now force myself to study as my first exam is in a week :/ It's a little daunting, there is so many things to remember.

Last Week of Uni
Today is officially the last day of classes for the semester.  All that's left is exams and if all goes well I will have finally got my degree. It's a bit scary thinking about it especially when I'm not entirely sure on what I am doing next year but it's good to be finally done and having the sense of achieving something.

Tanya Burr Vlogs
Tanya vlogged everyday during September but it wasn't until the end of that month where I started watching them.  Since then I've been watching them over the last couple of weeks and on Monday I finished them.  It was a bit sad, it kind of became apart of my routine and now I don't know what to do with myself.  I especially enjoyed the ones with bits and pieces from London Fashion Week but I loved all of them.

New Taylor Swift Songs
I wasn't really the biggest Taylor Swift fan but I am obsessed with her new songs. It all started with Shake it off, which you can't help but dance to, and now it's Out of the Woods and Welcome to New York.  I love both songs.  Welcome to New York is very eighties and if possible makes me want to go to New York even more.  Overall my favourite would have to be Out of the Woods, I'm not quite sure why but I've had it on repeat for the last couple of days and am still not sick of it yet.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and if your in New Zealand have a great Labour Weekend! :D

Hey

This post was inspired by Cass from Cassandra Myee and her post on her art and architecture books which she studies at uni. I thought I would share the books I have for this semester which I am in the last week of, YUS! I have to confess that I tend to be a little slack in reading them especially during the weeks where assignments are due. I will read them for my upcoming exams and afterwards I might flip through them to look at the pictures.

These books are really more Art History based even though one of my papers is technically Ancient History.  I find them really interesting, especially how skilful the ancient people were to create these decorative pieces of art and pottery.

In my Ancient History course we study ancient Aegean and Egyptian art concurrently as they eventually crossover with one another.

The Art of Ancient Egypt - Gay Robins

I was really surprised to learn how developmental Egyptian Art was as before I just thought the same style was maintained throughout the dynasties. I however was wrong and it was interesting to see the changes in showing the figure.

Aegean Art and Architecture - Preziosi and Hitchcock

I won't lie I was more interested in this side of the course rather than the Egyptian especially since we had image tests and it was impossible for me to remember all the strange Egyptian names.  Aegean art was more interesting for me as there were more variation of art; pottery, frescos, sculpture and also the art is very similar to that of ancient Rome which I took a paper on last year and loved.  What interested me the most was the different areas that we looked at; Mycenae which is mainland Greece, Cycladic and Minoan and that they all had their own style.

Painting and Experience in Fifteenth Century Italy - Michael Baxandall

This book is actually for my Art History paper but has less images.  It's more about the theory side I guess of studying the Italian Renaissance and the importance of the 'Period Eye' when looking at art.  It basically means just putting it into the context of the time.

I also have three books comprising of Greek Tragedy plays which are not as interesting as the books above visual wise but the stories are interesting if not a bit disturbing as well.

Hope you all enjoyed this post!

Hey

Sorry for the halt in blogging last week, my laptop gave up and now it won't turn on at all which is very inconvenient.  I'm doing this post on the main computer at home as doing it on the blogger app was a bit of a disaster.

Last Wendesday I went and saw Justin Timberlake live with my sister (she somehow was lucky to see him twice) and it was amazing! He did a lot of his old songs which was great and afterwards my ears were ringing for quite a while.  I thought that I might blog about what I wore and how I did my make-up for it. It's not very exciting but I thought it might be fun to do.

Black Shirt - Farmers
Tartan Skirt - Valley Girl

Jacket - Jay Jays

Shoes - Number One Shoes

I also wore plain grey tights to bring it all together. I was planning on wearing my heeled boots but I wore them all day at uni and my feet were killing me, so I went for the more comfortable option.

Primer - Maybelline Baby Skin
Foundation - Revlon Colourstay
Concealer - Collection Cosmetics
Powder - Rimmel Stay Matte
Blush - NYX
Mascara - Collection Cosmetics

This is just my usual make-up look I have everyday, it's not very exciting but what the hell I thought I would include it. I was planning on wearing lipstick but couldn't be bothered with the maintenance so I just brought along my Nivea Lip Balm.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! Like I said Justin was amazing and I had a great time singing along.  In fact after his concert I've now become obsessed with all of his songs particularly FutureSex/LoveSound which I've had on repeat for the past couple of days.

Hey

It's been a while since I've posted and it feels kinda strange... I've taken a well needed hiatus from blogging to try and concentrate more on what felt like never ending assignments that were due one after the other.  Anyway, I'm back! I've only got a test on Thursday then I'm done till exams kick in.

I know I'm getting less stressed when I decide to paint my nails. Over the last couple of weeks the thought of doing them felt like a chore and the idea just repulsed me.  Yesterday I felt my nails were bare and boring and felt like doing them.

As usual when I go to pick a colour I think that I really need to get more colours and also that I have a number of reds.  As you can see I went for a red but is more of a orange-y red. It's from Collection Cosmetics and is 'Lady in Red'.  The colour is nice, it's pigmented so you cold get away with one coat but I usually go for two.  It doesn't have great lasting power, it's already started to chip on my left hand but what can you do.

While I was painting them I thought that the colour was a almost perfect match to one of my lipsticks.

This is a Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love that Pink which is more a red pink than an actual pink.  I wore it all day on Saturday, unlike the nail polish it has great lasting power which had a little help from Lily Pebbles and her tips on How to make Lipstick Last. So yeah, it pretty much lasted the whole day with a few touch ups which I did out of boredom.

Yesterday my fam and I went for a little trip in Pukekohe and of course I had to have a look in Farmers.  I only came away with a plain, black short sleeved shirt but was something I really needed as I have none and really goes well with some skirts I have.

Hope you all enjoyed this post! Hopefully the blogging will be more regular from now on but was nice to have a little break.

No more essays
Yesterday I handed in my last ever essay (hopefully) and it felt soooo good! It's getting close to the end of the semester and right now I'm kind of just over it all.  Essay's are the most painful thing ever and for some reason I just hate reading my own writing and I just can't stand editing. I've got an assignment and a test left to do then I'm all done apart from the exams at the end.  If I pass everything this semester I will have finally got my degree which is scary as I've been doing this for so long and I have no plans for what I'm going to do next.

Vlogs
Lately I've been really obsessed with vlogs all of a sudden.  There's heaps of them in my subscription box on YouTube and I just love watching other people's lives which are much more interesting than mine.  I have a lot of favourites including: Vivianna Does Makeup, Lily Pebbles, Essie Button, Zoella and Tanya Burr. Watching these videos are pretty much the highlight of my day and always put me in a good mood.

Return of awesome TV shows
It's that time of year where all the TV shows are starting back up again in the US and I'm soooo excited.  Once Upon a Time started back up earlier in the week and was so good! I've missed it so so much. As I'm writing this the Vampire Diaries are airing in the US and after that Reign.  These are another of my favourites shows and it's painful seeing all the tweets about the shows when I can't watch them and have no idea what is going on.

Hope you all enjoyed this post and have a great weekend!

Hey

Today is actually the blog's first birthday!

I can't really remember why I decided to start a blog this time last year, I think I did it on a bit of a whim.

I didn't really start off well and there was a few times where I considered deleting it.  It wasn't until this year where I really seriously put some time into it and I'm really glad I did.  I'm always surprised that people actually read what I write and I get really excited when anybody comments so thank you to everyone! I also love all the people I've "met" on Twitter from doing it which is awesome.

I really love it now, it's not perfect but I'm really excited in turning it into something amazing.

Hope you all enjoyed this post!

Hey

Sorry for being M.I.A for the last week but uni work has been really stressing me out which leaves me drained of any creativity for the blog.  There probably won't be any posts next week either but we'll see how we go. I normally don't post on a Sunday but I had a little fun excursion yesterday which I'd thought I will document.

My old Primary/Secondary school had their annual Calf Club day yesterday.  When I was at school this was my favourite day ever, firstly because of the day itself and also because leading up to it we would have dedicated class time to do art which would then get judge and the day before we did flower arrangements.

It was very weird going back after like nine years after leaving (can't believe it almost been a decade) especially when I remember the school being bigger than it was. It was also very weird walking around and seeing all the old teachers I had who pretty much are the same as I remember them.

I also remember there being a lot more stuff at Calf Club as well, maybe it just doesn't appeal to me as much anymore.

 There were small motorised cars

A rock climbing wall

There was also horse riding and a digger that scooped out balls out of some water. Just your classic country school games.

I made some new friends

And of course I got candy floss which I then ate too fast and got a bit sick

We didn't spend that long there as there wasn't a lot to do so we went home to what could be described as a mini calf club.

This is Rocky the sheep sitting by the flowers for some shade I think

This is my sister's new Guinea Pig baby. It's very soft and cute.

Hope you all enjoyed this post. I'm pretty much half way through my assignments and I can just taste the freedom. Seriously can't wait for this semester to be over.
